Girls’ football giants Kawempe Muslim Secondary School have officially been flagged off ahead of the USSSA Ball Games I championship set to kick off on Thursday, April 30 at Seroma Christian High School in Mukono.
The team departed from the school premises in Kawempe in a ceremony led by deputy head teacher Madam Ayebare Waida, who rallied the players to uphold the school’s winning tradition.
“On behalf of this great institution, I send you to Mukono to go and represent us to the fullest. You’re the warriors and we believe in you—go for that trophy like it is normal here,” she charged.
Kawempe Muslim SS, widely regarded as a powerhouse in girls’ football, last lifted the national title in 2024. They finished fourth in the previous edition, with St Noa Girls Secondary School entering this year’s tournament as defending champions.
The team will, however, miss the services of star player Agnes Nabukenya, who is currently on national duty with the Queen Cranes (Uganda U20 Women’s National Team). In her absence, Tracy Nabalanzi has been entrusted with the captain’s armband.
During the draws held on Monday at the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association headquarters, Kawempe Muslim SS was placed in Group H alongside St Andrews Ruhindi, Mukono Kings High School, and Jubilee 2000.
With a rich pedigree and high expectations, Kawempe heads into the championship determined to reclaim its dominance and secure another national crown.
