KAMPALA, UGANDA – One year after the passing of their son Rajiv, prominent couple Sudhir and Jyotsna Ruparelia have released a deeply moving public tribute, reflecting on love, loss, and the enduring power of memory.

In a poignant memorial note shared on social media and circulated among friends and well-wishers, the couple describes the profound silence that accompanies the loss of a child — “a quiet, enduring ache that time does not erase, but gently reshapes.”
The message, accompanied by a warm family portrait showing the parents kissing their smiling son on the cheeks, captures both the pain of absence and the quiet strength found in remembrance.

“To lose a son is to carry a silence the world cannot hear,” the note begins. “As one year has passed, we have come to understand that grief is not something to overcome, but something we learn to live with, holding close the love that will never fade.”
The Ruparelias speak of their son’s lasting imprint, noting that “every cherished memory, every story retold, and every act of kindness inspired by his life” continues to guide them.
They emphasize that Rajiv’s presence remains “alive in that silence,” offering solace amid sorrow.
The tribute also extends heartfelt gratitude to the community that supported them through their grief. “We extend our deepest gratitude to all who have stood beside us through this journey—for your prayers, your compassion, and for keeping his memory alive with us,” they wrote.
“Your support has been a source of strength, reminding us that while loss is deeply personal, love is something we can continue to share.”
Though a year has passed, the couple affirms that remembrance transcends time. “It lives on—steadfast, beautiful, and eternal,” they conclude, signing the message simply as Sudhir & Jyotsna Ruparelia.
Rajiv Ruparelia, who died on May 3, 2025, at the age of 35 was also a top really driver.
Uganda’s motorsport community is set to honour his memory with a special memorial drive on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
The Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Drive, organised by TT Drags and Drifts UG under the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of Uganda (FMU), will see drivers, car clubs and enthusiasts converge for a symbolic procession rather than a competitive event.
The convoy will start at RR Pearl Tower One in Kampala – a landmark tied to the Ruparelia Group’s real estate legacy – before proceeding to Speke Resort Munyonyo, where Rajiv served as a director and contributed significantly to Uganda’s hospitality sector.
His parents note has resonated widely, drawing sympathetic responses from friends, colleagues, and members of the broader community who knew Rajiv or have followed the family’s journey. In an age where public expressions of grief are often fleeting, the Ruparelias’ words stand as a testament to the quiet dignity of parental love and the human capacity to find light even in the darkest of memories.
