Parliament of Uganda has approved Supplementary Expenditure Schedule No. 5 for the Financial Year 2025/26 amounting to Shs 1.105 trillion to support key government priorities, including elections, health worker recruitment, AFCON 2027 preparations, and outstanding obligations under the Uganda Police Force.
The supplementary budget was presented by State Minister for General Duties Henry Musasizi and will be financed through budget reallocations, additional local revenue, external financing, and improved cash management efficiencies.
Among the major allocations approved is Shs 56.95 billion for LC I, LC II, and Women Council Committee elections across the country, as directed by Cabinet. Another Shs 29.57 billion has been earmarked for preparatory activities for AFCON 2027, while Shs 132.9 billion will settle outstanding obligations under the police force.
Parliament also approved Shs 72.9 billion in additional funding from the World Bank for the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) project aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs.
In the health sector, Shs 40.21 billion was reallocated to facilitate recruitment of health workers under 19 referral hospitals, while Shs 23.21 billion will support wage counterpart funding for newly constructed schools under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Programme (UGIFT).
The approved schedule further provides Shs 107.52 billion to address wage, pension, and gratuity shortfalls across various government ministries, departments, and agencies.
