Mbalangu expects URA FC to win its remain four league games

URA coach Hussein Mbalangu

Coach Hussein Mbalangu did not feel that his URA side deserved to lose 0-2 to SC Villa in the first leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-final on the night of Monday, May 4 at Nakivubo stadium.

Mbalangu insisted that luck was just not on their side. Compared to SC Villa, who actually will head into the second leg between May 13 and 17 with a second goal that was a result of a miscalculated back pass from Moses Aliro, that resulted in an own goal, Mbalangu is happy about his team’s effort.

However, while Villa boast of a two goal lead, moreover away from home, since the away goals rule still applies in this knock-out cup, Mbalangu’s focus has now shifted to their league encounter against Vipers on Friday, May 8 under the lights of the St Mary’s stadium, Kitende.

Incidentally, for Mbalangu, despite the poor season his side has had, he demands that his team show character and win their four remaining games.

“As a club, being in eleventh position on the league table is unacceptable. We are just ten points ahead of Buhimba United, who are on 15 points, second from bottom. If they win all their remaining games, and we do not, we can easily end uprelegated,” Mbalangu said.

On that background, Mbalangu does not expect any of his charges to be in holiday mood yet. He warned that they are at a club that facilitates them well.

The fact that they have won the UPL four times means they are a giant side, something they must show in the remaining games. Since taking over, URA has only won four of its 15 games in all competitions. If they beat Vipers, whom they lost to 0-3 in the first round, he said, it would build confidence to build on for the 2026/27 season.
