Hopeful Future Secondary School from Kayunga kept their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive after playing out a hard-fought goalless draw against Madinah Islamic Secondary School on Matchday Two of the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Schools Football Championship Uganda Under-15 Boys Qualifiers.
The encounter, played on Saturday at St Joseph’s College Layibi in Gulu City, saw the Kayunga-based side produce a disciplined defensive display to earn their first point of the tournament.
Hopeful Future entered the match determined to bounce back after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Bulo Parents Secondary School in their opening Group A fixture. The draw against Madinah Islamic ensured the debutants remain in contention for a place in the quarter-finals.
The result, however, leaves Hopeful Future with a daunting task in their final group match, where they must defeat defending champions St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende (SMASK) to stand a realistic chance of progressing to the last eight.
St Mary’s Kitende have already secured qualification from Group A after winning both of their opening matches, defeating Madinah Islamic Secondary School 1-0 before overcoming Bulo Parents Secondary School 2-0 to book an early place in the quarter-finals.
