LIFE IS SACRED – OVERCOMING THE SPIRIT OF DEATH AND SUICIDE THROUGH CHRIST AND COMMUNITY – AN OPINION OF DR. AHIMBISIBWE GAD RUGAJU

×

Fellow citizens, parents, leaders, and all who are hurting in silence,

The spirit behind suicide and the spirit of death are deeply serious. They stand in direct opposition to God’s life-giving nature. Scripturally, death and suicidal thoughts are not just mental struggles. They are a severe spiritual attack.
But hear me clearly: God’s grace is greater than the darkest despair. There is profound hope, healing, and help available for every person who is struggling today. You are not alone. Your life matters to God, to your family, and to this nation. I write this as both a government leader and a minister of the Gospel, because I have seen too many destinies cut short when help was within reach.

CAUSES OF SUICIDAL THOUGHTS AND HOW TO OVERCOME THEM
From a biblical, professional, and lived perspective, suicidal thoughts rarely happen in a vacuum. They are often the result of an intersection between life’s crushing burdens and the enemy’s attempts to steal, kill, and destroy John 10:10. Below are key causes and God’s way out:
Cause
How It Manifests         How to Overcome It

Spiritual Oppression

The enemy plants lies: “You are a burden,” “No one cares,” “God has left you.” You feel hopeless, condemned, and cut off.
Resist with the Word: Declare “I shall not die, but live” Psalm 118:17. Pray aloud. Worship. Demons flee at the name of Jesus. Do not agree with the lie. Speak truth over your mind – Romans 12:2.

Isolation and Grief Loss of a loved one, divorce, job loss, or shame causes deep loneliness. You withdraw. No one knows your pain. Break Isolation: God said “It is not good for man to be alone” Gen 2:18. Join a church cell, talk to a pastor, call a friend. Everyone going through a challenge of suicidal thoughts should immediately call or WhatsApp Dr. Rugaju on +256 772 912643/+256701050020.We will walk with you.
Financial Ruin and Debts Loans, court cases, and fear of embarrassment make death look like escape. The pressure is suffocating. Cast the Burden: “Cast all your anxiety on Him” 1 Peter 5:7. Talk to your LC1, church elder, or my office. There are legal protections and restructuring options. Suicide transfers the debt to your children don’t do it.
Unresolved Trauma and Abuse Childhood wounds, rape, domestic violence, or war memories keep replaying. You feel dirty, broken, and worthless.

Seek Healing: Jesus heals the brokenhearted – Luke 4:18. Professional Christian counseling plus prayer brings freedom. Trauma is not your identity. Christ can restore years the locusts have eaten – Joel 2:25.

Chronic Illness and Pain Long-term sickness, HIV stigma, or disability makes you feel you have no future.

Embrace Purpose in Pain: Paul had a thorn but God said “My grace is sufficient” – 2 Cor 12:9. Your life still has value. Join support groups. Let doctors and pastors help you. Your testimony will heal others.

The Trap of Self-Will and Pride You try to fix everything yourself. When you fail, shame says “End it.” You refuse help because “What will people say?”

Surrender: “Whoever wants to save their life will lose it” – Mark 8:35. Pride kills. Humility heals. Admit you need help. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble – James 4:6.
THE BIBLICAL RESPONSE – OVERCOMING THROUGH CHRIST
Scripture does not hide the struggle. Mighty men of God faced deep despair:
– Elijah in 1 Kings 19 sat under a tree and prayed, _“I have had enough, Lord, take my life.” God’s response was not rebuke. It was rest, food, and a gentle whisper of renewed purpose.
– Jonah wanted to die in his anger and disappointment. God met him with grace and a second chance.
– David cried in Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
This is God’s pattern: He meets despair with presence, not judgment.
Four Biblical Keys to Overcome:

Your Life Has Divine Purpose: Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” John 10:10. Your life carries a mandate that the kingdom of darkness is trying to abort. You are not an accident.
Cast Your Burdens: “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” 1 Peter 5:7. You were not meant to carry this alone. Prayer is not weakness. It is warfare.
Renew Your Mind: Guard your thoughts. Do not come into agreement with the spirit of death. Cling to the truth that your identity and value are in Christ, not in your failures, debts, or pain Romans 12:2.
Embrace Community and Help: God uses people. He used an angel to feed Elijah. He uses pastors, counselors, doctors, and government systems as tools for healing. Isolation is the enemy’s playground.

I combine biblical truth with practical referral to licensed Christian counselors and medical professionals. We will fight for your life – spiritually, emotionally, and legally.
You do not have to choose between faith and professional help. You need both, and I can help you access both.
CHOOSE LIFE – YOU ARE ESSENTIAL
To the one reading this with tears in your eyes:

The thought that you should die is a lie. It is not from God. It is from the enemy who wants to stop what God started in you. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy” John 10:10. But Jesus came to give you life.
Your pain is real, but it is not final. Elijah thought it was over “You still have a journey.” Your story is not finished. The same God who sustained him will sustain you.
You are essential. You bring what no one else can bring to your family, your clan, and this nation. Your children need you. Kanungu needs you. Heaven is not in a hurry to receive you before your assignment is done.
Do not walk in silence. Silence is where the spirit of death grows. Speak. Reach out. Today.
