Maroons beat Express 2-0, to complete a league double over the Red Eagles, on Thursday at Luzira Prisons ground.

Second-half long range strikes from Fred Amaku and Ronald Orombi led the Hosts to a 2-0 win against Baker Mbowa’s side.

In the reverse fixture, Muhammad Ssenfuma’s squad claimed a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture at Wankulukuku Stadium.

This win marks Maroons’ first victory of the second round, while it’s a disappointing start for Mbowa’s managerial career at Express, losing all three games under his charge, falling to SC Villa and Wakiso Giants.

Despite a bright start from Mbowa’s side, with Alpha Ssali posing a threat with his pace, they couldn’t capitalize on early opportunities.

Amaku had a goal disallowed for a foul on Dauson Mafumu, but later in the second half, the hosts rallied and scored two quick goals, with Amaku and Orombi finding the net.

Maroons currently hold the 6th position in the league table with 34 points from 22 matches, whereas Express sits 9th with 29 points.

In their next fixtures, Maroons will face Mbarara City at Kakyeka Ground on Friday 5th, while Express will host URA at Wankulukuku Stadium on Saturday.
