Hadijah Nandago’s late heroics propelled Kawempe Muslim to a crucial victory over She Maroons in the FUFA Women Super League match held on Wednesday.
Nandago’s decisive strike came in the 73rd minute of the game, breaking the deadlock and securing the vital three points for the hosts.
Nandago capitalized on Phionah Nabulime’s long ball, expertly evading She Maroons goalkeeper Esther Akujjo’s reach with a good loop.
The win sees Kawempe Muslim open their lead at the top of the league table, amassing a total of 27 points and opening up a three-point gap ahead of defending champions Kampala Queens, who currently sit in second place with 24 points.
This victory marks a significant step for Kawempe Muslim, who are striving to reclaim the league title they last held during the 2017/18 season when the competition was known as the Elite Women League.
