Government officials have praised the growing contribution of local enterprises and technology-driven innovation to Uganda’s economic transformation following a high-level visit to the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU).
The visit brought together the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Sanjay Tanna, and the Minister of State for Finance, Amina Mukalazi, who toured the unit alongside officials from the State House Local Content Unit and key stakeholders from the private sector.
Hosting the delegation, Edith Nakalema described the visit as an important opportunity to showcase success stories emerging from government support for compliant investors and local enterprises.
Among the highlights was the growth of Ambiance Tree Farm, a Ugandan-owned enterprise that has developed into a business valued at approximately US$25 million through investments in eucalyptus plantations, utility poles, and timber exports across the region.
The delegation also received updates from Huawei Uganda on its contribution to Uganda’s digital transformation agenda. According to company officials, Huawei has established partnerships with 23 universities across the country and has trained more than 10,000 young people through its DigiTruck digital skills programme.
The company further highlighted the achievements of Ugandan students who recently secured second and third positions globally in the Huawei ICT Competition, underscoring the country’s growing presence in the international technology sector.
The visit was attended by Mrs. Hiromi Abe Patel, Executive Director National Information Technology Authority-Uganda Dr. Hatwib Mugasa, representatives from Huawei Uganda, Ambiance Tree Farm, and Uganda Revenue Authority.
Officials emphasized the importance of practical policies, stronger government-private sector collaboration, and continued support for compliant investors as Uganda seeks to expand value addition, industrialisation, and export growth.
Nakalema said the experiences shared during the visit demonstrated the potential of strategic partnerships in driving economic development and creating opportunities for Ugandans.
The discussions also focused on strengthening local content participation, protecting investment, and fostering innovation as key pillars of Uganda’s long-term economic growth strategy.
The State House Investors Protection Unit has in recent years intensified efforts to resolve investor concerns, improve the business environment, and support enterprises that contribute to employment creation, exports, and industrial development.
This version reads like a mainstream business and development news story, with a clear lead, balanced structure, and emphasis on the economic significance of the visit.
