Judicial Staff in Kwoyelo Reparation Case Equipped with Skills

KAMPALA– The Deputy Registrar at the International Crimes Division (ICD), HW Juliet Hardy Hatanga, on at the beginning of this week, presided over the opening of a one-day training on data collection, registration, and identification of victims in the Thomas Kwoyelo Reparation Case. HW Hatanga represented Lady Justice Susan Okalany, the Deputy Head of the Division.

The training, held at Kabira Country Club, was conducted with financial and technical support from the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ).

The training attracted participants, mainly victims in the recently concluded Thomas Kwoyelo case, who were taken through sessions on effective methods of data collection, registration, and identification to support the reparation process. In her welcoming remarks, HW Hatanga thanked participants for attending, especially those who travelled from Northern Uganda where the majority of affected communities are located. She also applauded development partners, particularly ICTJ, for their support to the ICD’s work on reparations.

She commended the Judges of the Division for their resilience in delivering the Thomas Kwoyelo Reparations Judgment
