Mukono District Commemorates International Day of the Girl Child at Namagunga Girls Primary School

Namataba– The International Day of the Girl Child, celebrated globally on 11th October, focuses on empowering girls and ensuring their rights. This year’s theme is “Empowering the Girl Child for a Sustainable Future.”

The event in Mukono District was graced by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Hajjati Fatumah Ndisaba Nabitaka, who served as the Guest of Honour. She was welcomed by Ms. Alowo Eunice, the Clerk to Council, representing the Chief Administrative Officer, Ms. Elizabeth Namanda.

Also present were Mr. Robert Humphrey Mawanda, the District Inspector of Schools, representing the District Education Officer, Mr. Rashid Kikomeko, along with other Inspectors of Schools, Head teachers, and education stakeholders.

The commemoration brought together girls from various government and private schools across Mukono District and began with a Holy Mass led by Rev. Fr. Clemente Richard Bakaki.
