The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Presidential Candidate, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has pledged continued social and economic infrastructural development for Arua City and District in his next term of office.

While addressing a massive crowd of NRM supporters at the Arua City Golf Course Grounds during his presidential campaign rally, General Museveni outlined key priorities, including new tarmac roads and increased industrialization, supported by the recently established regional power station. These developments aim to strengthen Arua’s economic connectivity to the rest of the country and promote large-scale wealth creation.

On the social front, General Museveni committed to closing remaining gaps in health and education services by fully implementing the NRM government’s policy of establishing a government school and health facility in every parish and sub-county.

He further assured residents of “last mile” service delivery initiatives, aiming to extend government services and infrastructure deeper into local communities. Commending the people of Arua for leveraging the existing peace to initiate wealth-creation projects, Museveni urged them to scale up their economic activities and target regional markets.

“Peace and stability must be sustained,” Museveni emphasized, “to prevent the recurrence of the historical unrest that once plagued this area.”

The rally also marked a major political shift, with over 300 former National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters crossing over to the NRM. The defection was led by former Makerere University Guild President Alionz Lawrence Dangote, who is now the NRM flag bearer for Arua City’s 2026 mayoral race.

“I have seen the light in NRM and want to constructively contribute to national development,” Dangote declared before the NRM National Chairman and Presidential Candidate.

First Lady Maama Janet Kataha Museveni also addressed the electorate, urging them to vote for leaders like General Museveni and other NRM flag bearers, stressing their role in safeguarding Uganda’s future.

Local NRM leaders, including Arua City Chairperson Zoe Bakoko and Arua District Chairperson Alion Boniface, echoed the call, citing tangible gains delivered by the NRM government and urging voters to support the party in the upcoming elections.
