Speaker Among sends message of hope to Mayuge Residents

Mayuge came to a standstill today as thousands of residents flooded the roadsides with songs, ululations, and dancing in anticipation of one woman — Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, Speaker of Parliament and NRM 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female).

Her arrival sparked excitement across the district as locals waved NRM flags and chanted “Mulamu Wafwe! Mama Busoga! Mama Uganda!” — a testament to her growing influence as one of the most relatable national leaders of the time.

But amid the jubilation, the people of Mayuge poured out their biggest fear — losing their forest land to encroachers and being left in poverty. They pleaded for protection and empowerment.

Speaker Among listened keenly and assured them that their cry would not be ignored.

“No one will take away what rightfully belongs to you,” she declared. “Under President Museveni’s leadership, we shall protect your land, transform your livelihoods, and secure your future.”

She called on the people of Busoga to rise above division and rally behind one candidate — President Museveni — whom she described as the “only leader with a proven record of peace and wealth creation.

“If Busoga speaks with one voice, no one can stop its progress,” she reminded the cheering crowd

She was flanked by PLU Secretary General Hon. David Kabanda and Chief Muzzukulu, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, who reinforced the message, urging Busoga to “finish what God started through President Museveni.”

As the sun set over Mayuge, one thing was clear — this was not just a political visit. It was a rekindling of hope, a call to unity, and a promise that Busoga will not be left behind.
