Mbarara: Kashari South has officially erupted into political theatre as NRM flag bearer Capt. John Bosco Bamuturaki Tumusiime stormed Nyarubungo Sub–county, kicking off his 2026 campaign trail with a fiery warning to rivals: “No one will snatch the flag from me!”

The former Mbarara District LC5 Chairman, speaking before electrified crowds on Monday, declared that he is battle-ready to defend the NRM flag handed to him by “the people who trust his leadership.”

Bamuturaki, who floored Jackson Kakuru in the NRM primaries, wasted no time reminding supporters that he is the legitimate flag bearer — and that his defeated rival’s decision to run as an independent will not shake him.

“Let me repeat this: with the people’s support, I will deliver this flag at any cost,” he thundered. “Politics is not do-or-die. When I lost last time, I accepted it quietly. I didn’t go crying on radios. I just regrouped and waited for five years. Now I’m here — and I will win again.”

The crowds roared as the Captain reminded Kakukuru and other defectors to “copy from him” if they truly believe in the NRM cause.

“If they know they are NRM Cadres or supporters, why don’t they copy from me of what I did the other time and rally behind me as the flag bearer mow?But I assure him that I will win him once again.”

In a sharp warning to those fanning local tensions, Bamuturaki told voters to reject leaders who weaponize tribe, religion, and sectarian slogans.

“Anyone promoting tribe and religion is not a cadre. The law is clear — they will be followed up, arrested, charged and exposed.”

He urged voters to choose leaders based on service, not identity politics: “People know who has worked and who will work for them, and they don’t need to be told by church leaders, they don’t need to be told by tribesmen. Let’s focus on having peaceful elections by telling people during the campaign what you want to do for them.”

Bamuturaki’s first campaign day in Nyarubungo was marked by massive rallies across: Nyarubungo Cell, Rwentojo Cell, Nyamunywanisa Cell and Kanyigiri Cell.

The Captain promised peaceful, development-focused campaigns.
