AUUS Games 2025 MMU takes it Personal Conquer the Pool

AUUS Games 2025: MMU takes it Personal, Conquer the Pool Tables at UCU

Mountain of the Moon University (MMU) announced themselves in emphatic fashion at the 20th Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) Games, delivering a dominant pool table display that left rivals chasing shadows at Uganda Christian University between December 18 and 23, 2025.

Across singles, doubles and team events, MMU blended precision, composure and tactical awareness to emerge as one of the standout universities in cue sports at the championship. Their campaign was defined by gold medals, podium sweeps and a team trophy, underlining the institution’s rapid rise in university pool competition.

At the centre of MMU’s success was Zainabu Namuli, whose calm temperament and clinical shot-making powered her to gold in the Ladies’ Singles. Namuli’s run was a masterclass in control and confidence, and she was closely followed by teammate Oliver Loy Karungi, who claimed silver to complete a remarkable one-two finish for MMU.

The pair proved their dominance was no coincidence by teaming up in the Ladies’ Doubles, where their chemistry and tactical understanding saw them secure another gold medal. Once again, MMU shut the door on the competition, reinforcing their grip on the women’s categories.

MMU’s authority was further confirmed in the Ladies’ Team Event. Namuli, Karungi and Hellen Aluka delivered a composed and disciplined performance to claim the team trophy and three gold medals, a result that reflected not only individual brilliance but also collective strength and preparation.

While other universities enjoyed moments of success — including Kisubi’s Hillary Bukenya, who took gold in the Men’s Singles — MMU’s consistency across the women’s events ensured they remained the dominant narrative of the pool competition.

While MMU taking the team event gold medal for women home, Makerere University Business School settled for men’s team event; Remmy Katende, Jalaalidin Batte and Ivan Mwesigwa were so outstanding for the Nakawa based institution.

In Men doubles, Kampala International University took the gold medal, thanks to Samuel Nabaasa and Amalaul Albino prowess.

As the AUUS Games curtain fell in Mukono, Mountain of the Moon University departed with cue sticks raised and reputations enhanced. In pool table, MMU did not just compete — they ruled, signalling that their presence at the top of university cue sports is no longer a promise, but a reality.
