Electoral Commission Disqualifies NUP’s Woman Candidate for Isingiro District

Isingiro– Justice Simon Byabakama, the Chairperson Electoral Commission has disqualified Resty Sarah Kyarimpa, the National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate for Isingiro Woman Member of Parliament for failure to fulfill the set out requirements.

“Accordingly, the decision of the Returning Officer, Isingiro District, nominating Candidate Kyarimpa Resty Sarah is hereby reversed; and Candidate Kyarimpa Resty Sarah is disqualified from the General Parliamentary Elections, 2025, for the said elective office.” Ruled justice Byabakama

That after consideration of the written responses, evidence and submissions, the commission found out that Niwamanya Tadeo with NIN CM97062101X5LL, appears twice

among the names and signatures of the ten registered voters supporting the Candidate Kyarimpa Resty Sarah.

“As a result, Candidate Kyarímpa Resty Sarah did not provide the minimum of ten persons registered in Isingiro District as required under Section 28(1) (c) of the Parliamentary Elections Act, Cap.177.”

Upon receiving this information, NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has expressed disatisfaction with the manner in which Electoral Commission has continued to disqualify their candidates in several parts of the country in “unfair” manner.
