UPDF General Dies on his way to Kampala

Kampala– The Uganda People’s Defence Force(UPDF) is mourning the passing away of a second general in a period less than a week.

According to the Acting UPDF Spokesperson Brig Gen Chris Magezi, Major Gen Deus Sande, UPDF Armored Division Commander (Masaka) passed away on Wednesday morning at Mpigi on his way to Kampala at 03.45 am

“He was on his way to Kampala to attend the funeral service of comrade Major General Francis Takirwa (RIP) at All Saints Cathedral in Nakasero. Major General Takirwa died on Saturday, February 7, 2026.”

Magezi also revealed that Major General Deus Sande developed breathing complications along the way and efforts to resuscitate him at a hospital facility in Mpigi failed.

The UPDF has promised to come up with the exact cause of death later.
