Namagabi Secondary School produced a spirited response to defeat hosts Janan Secondary School 2-0 in the boys’ volleyball category, keeping their campaign alive at the ongoing Elite Games in Bombo.
The Kayunga-based Islamic school had earlier stumbled in their opening fixture, falling 2-0 to St. Kagwa Bushenyi High School. Despite a bright start in the first set where they opened up a six-point gap, Namagabi’s momentum faded as St. Kagwa rallied to take control and eventually sealed the match in straight sets.
Determined to make amends, Namagabi returned to the court with renewed focus against the hosts. This time, they corrected their earlier mistakes and dominated proceedings from start to finish. The visitors comfortably claimed the first set 25-12 before wrapping up the second 25-10 to secure a convincing straight-sets victory and earn the bragging rights.
Namagabi will resume action on Saturday with two crucial fixtures. They face St. Benedict Secondary School at 11am before taking on Seroma Christian High School at 4pm.
