God is a God of order and excellence. He honours those who labour diligently and warns against laziness in service. Every duty entrusted to us, whether in government, education, health, or the home, is ultimately service to God. Therefore, He expects us to work with all our heart, not with negligence.

1. Understanding LaxityA lax person approaches duty with laxity – meaning carelessness, negligence, and lack of discipline or zeal. Laxity is the enemy of excellence and the root of failed institutions.
2. Biblical Warning Against LaxityScripture speaks directly to those who serve God with slackness:1. Jeremiah 48:10 “Cursed is he who does the work of the Lord with slackness.” try to read this verse in Rukiga bible it comes out very strong that “Akyenigwe orakora omurimo gwa Mukama nobwerenwa”2. Proverbs 18:9 “Whoever is slack in his work is a brother to him who destroys.”

Laxity in duty is not a small matter. It is injustice to the people we serve.Proverbs 29:2 “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”
3. God’s Standard for WorkThe Bible sets the standard for how all work should be done:1. Romans 12:11 “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.”2. Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” This verse is very important please underline it in your bible.3. 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
APPLICATIONThis message speaks directly to all public servants in Kanungu District – Head Teachers, Sub-County Chiefs, Community Development Officers, Town Clerks, Town Agents, Parish Chiefs, Health Workers, Extension Staff, and all civil servants, to mention but a few:
1. To those who labour diligently
Head Teachers who keep schools open per the MoES calendar, supervise staff, and protect teaching time;Sub-County Chiefs who implement government programs without delay;Community Development Officers who mobilize households faithfully;Town Clerks and Town Agents who keep towns clean, lawful, and responsive;Parish Chiefs who maintain accurate records and serve citizens daily –God promises blessing and success. Your faithfulness will lift the standards of Kanungu. You are doing the work of God without laxity, and it is noted in Heaven and on earth. Well done.
2. To those who are negligent in duty who report late to office, who close schools early, who tolerate absenteeism, who demand bribes to serve, who file false reports, who treat God’s work casually – the warning of Jeremiah 48:10 stands. Laxity invites decline, not promotion.
Remember: Every citizen you serve is God’s assignment to you. Every file you sign, every child you teach, every patient you attend to, every road you inspect – that is worship. Every parent, farmer, and trader you serve is a soul God cares for.
CONCLUSIONHard work is an act of worship; laxity is a form of disobedience. Let us choose diligence. Let our offices, our schools, our health centres, our town councils, and our homes be marked by excellence, for God rewards those who serve Him wholeheartedly.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.”
