All preparations have been made for the election of a new Won-Nyaci, the paramount chief of Lango, following a meeting held on Monday by the council of “Owitonge” (clan heads). Several resolutions were reached regarding the forthcoming election.

The event commenced with the removal of Dila Benson Oyuku and Anthony Oyuku from their positions as Speaker and Speaker-Treasurer, respectively, of the Lango Cultural Foundation. They were immediately replaced by new office bearers.

George Ojwang Opota, the Prime Minister of Tekwaro Lango and also the Clan Head of Odyek-Onywal-Lceng, stated that the ousted speakers had repeatedly missed cultural council meetings and had shown little interest in participating.

The decision to terminate Dila Benson’s role was supported by Jurubabbel, amidst jubilation from numerous clan heads gathered at the meeting. Out of 149 clan heads, 120 attended the meeting at the Lango Cultural Centre.

Mr. Oremo Alot, the former LCV of Lira District, welcomed his appointment to replace Benson Ogwete Otim in the membership of the Lango Cultural Foundation Electoral Commission.

Andrew Ogwang, a clan member, advocated for the retention of only the constitution officially made by Owitong regarding the election, suggesting that all other constitutions be scrapped.

Ben Ogwete Otim and Beatrice Lagada were relieved of their duties by the clan heads from the electoral commission due to their other commitments.
