Uganda 194/5
Ghana 73/10
Uganda won by 121 runs

Uganda Men’s Cricket team, the Cricket Cranes, made light work of Ghana as they beat the side by 121 runs in their second game on Monday at the ongoing African Games.

The opening pair of Simon Ssesazi and Roger Mukasa exploded as soon as the game commenced, and slowed down not during the duration of their stay at the crease.

Ssesazi came short of a century- which would’ve been his second T20i 100- by 10 runs. The 27-year-old who scored nine 4s and four 6s knocked 90 off 50.

Mukasa on the other hand hit 69- his fifth T20i half century. The two produced a 160-run partnership en route to Uganda’s 194/5.

Thanks to Ghana captain Harvey Obed, that partnership was broken in the 16th Over when Ssesazi got bowled. Obed would later go on to record a fifer, but it did little in helping his team survive a massacre.

Ghana’s chase was undermined by especially two people. Alpesh Ramjani who continued with opening for Uganda and Juma Miyaji who was playing his first game in this competition.

Ramjani (2)dealt with the openers while Miyaji (3) cleaned the tail end. Henry Ssenyondo also picked 2 wickets while Kenneth Waiswa had one to his name.

It was a comfortable win for the Cricket Cranes , but they are not yet through to the semifinals. This owing to Kenya’s shocking win against South Africa in the other Group A game.

Kenya’s win opened the group wide. Uganda lead the group with maximum points and with a superior net run rate, but each of Kenya and South Africa are still in the running for a place in the semifinals.

The final group games will be played on Wednesday. Uganda will face South Africa while Kenya will meet Ghana.
