Alworonga Debora: Ugandan born joins Lithuanian club

Former Paidha Women FC Forward Alworonga Debora Stephens Luka has joined Lithuanian Women’s A league club MFA Zalgiris Vilnius.

“Debora Debby from South Sudan added to the team!🇸🇸” the club confirmed via there social media pages.

She joined from another Lithuanian outfit FK Saned Joniskis.

Alworonga had a debut to remember for her new home after she scored against her former side FK Saned Joniskis on Sunday in a 21-0 massacre.

Born on 1st March 2004 in Nebbi, the forward switched her allegiance to South Sudan having played for the Under 17 side in 2021 before she was promoted to the senior team a year later.

She became the first female South Sudan player to score a hat-trick in their 6-2 victory over Sudan (Khartoum) in a friendly match in 2022.

Debo as known by her peers kicked off her career at Paidha Women SA before crossing the border to DR Congo side FC Tosepela in Mahangi.

She also had a stint at Yei Joint Star FC in Juba, it’s from there that she signed for Lithuanian club FK Saned Joniskis.

She boosts a rich stats to back her talent having been a prolific goal scorer whenever she has played.

At Yei Joint Star she played 56 matches and scored 67 goals, eight in six Champions League apps, eighteen in the South Sudan Cup in 14 games and fifty one in the 36 league games.

In her debut season in the Lithuanian league, she bagged 31 goals in 28 games for FK Saned Joniskis.

While at MFA Zalgiris she has so far played two games with three goals including two in the domestic cup.

Alworonga is a sister to former Paidha Black Angels and Bright Stars Midfielder Aweko Victor.
