Big League: Kataka Climb Up To Second On the Table

Kataka beat Young Elephants 1-0 at Mbale stadium to record their eleventh win in the FUFA Big League this season.

The Mbale-based side has now climbed up to second position on the 15-team table, with 37 points from 21 games – just three points below log leaders Police (37) who have however played two game less.

At Mbale Stadium, Lufumbi star player Swamad Okur put up another top perfomance, creating a brilliant assist for the home side to score before the end of the first half.

Latif Ssenkubuge headed-in to give the home side a well-deserved lead in the 40th minute, connecting in Okur’s well weighted freekick from the right after Muhammad Nsereko was brought down just at the edge of the box.

At the end of an entertaining encounter, Ssenkubuge’s goal and Solomon Okello’s clean-sheet were all Kataka needed to seal a very important victory at home.

Kataka, that have also so far lost six and drawn four times went into the Saturday game sitting in fourth position, but they’re now back into contention for Uganda Premier League (UPL) qualification.
