BetPawa Big League title contenders Lugazi needed a late goal from a second half substitute to force a 1-1 draw with Blacks Power at Lugazi Stadium.

Isaac Okello scored in the second minute added onto the first 45 to put the visiting Lira-based side infront just before the halftime break.

As the home side pushed for an equaliser, Alvin Birungi was introduced in the 55th minute for Freedom Mungudit.

Lugazi, in the 66th minute made two more changes, bringing on Ronald Ssempala and Mubarak Mitala for Moses Buga and Ali Bayo respectively.

In the 77th minute, Lugazi made another double substitution, introducing Shafik Kiryowa and Brian Ssali for Sam Ssemugugu and Derrick Mwanje respectively.

In the 83rd minute, second half substitute Ssempala scored to level matters, so much to the disbelief of the visitors who had less than ten minutes left to defend all the three points on the road.

After a very busy evening at Lugazi, the Leaders couldn’t outscore their opponents to get the victory they expected at home.

After 19 games, had Lugazi won against their Sunday opponents, they would’ve gone to 38 points – just two less than table leaders Police (40).

As it stands, Lugazi retain their second position on the table with 36 points, comprising of nine wins, nine draws and just one loss so far this season.
