Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka, the presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Orthodox Church (EOC) in Uganda, has delivered a powerful message condemning corruption and hypocrisy in the country, likening perpetrators to Judas Iscariot. Speaking at the Mamre International Prayer Centre in Janda, Namugongo, Kira Municipality, Wakiso district, Bishop Kibuuka led a large gathering in prayers for healing and deliverance while addressing the pressing issues facing Ugandan society.
Expressing deep concern over the pervasive corruption that spans government institutions, private entities, and even religious institutions, Bishop Kibuuka urged individuals to reflect on their actions and prioritize honesty and integrity. Drawing parallels to the betrayal of Jesus Christ by Judas Iscariot for personal gain, Bishop Kibuuka emphasized the need for selflessness and accountability in all aspects of life.
“Corruption is rampant in our society, echoing the era of Judas Iscariot when personal greed led to betrayal,” Bishop Kibuuka remarked. “Many individuals prioritize personal gain over the well-being of others, perpetuating a cycle of corruption that undermines the fabric of our society.”
In his impassioned address, Bishop Kibuuka highlighted the importance of honesty, justice, and reconciliation in fostering national development. He stressed that without a concerted effort to combat corruption and promote transparency, Uganda would struggle to achieve lasting peace and progress.
“The path to development requires us to confront corruption head-on and embrace principles of honesty and justice,” Bishop Kibuuka asserted. “We must strive for reconciliation and forgiveness, working together to build a more just and equitable society for all.”
As the Easter holiday approaches, Bishop Kibuuka extended his wishes for a peaceful and prosperous nation, urging Ugandans to unite in the fight against corruption and poverty. He called upon individuals to embody the spirit of Easter by promoting reconciliation, dialogue, and compassion in their communities.
