Kitara might’ve missed a golden chance to extend the lead at the top of the Uganda Premier League (UPL) table in their goalless draw with second-placed BUL, but the Royals utilised the opportunity to cash in a good amount of money in gate collections.

The newly promoted UPL club just raised their highest ever gate collection in the history of the club, as confirmed in an official media statement from the Royals following their Friday fixture at Masindi stadium.

“We declare that we realized Shs 46,040,000 (Forty six million forty thousand Shillings only) from gate collections,” Kitara president Deo Kasozi confirmed before adding;

“This is the highest gate collection we have registered so far in the club’s history. The support, availability, encouragement and motivation by our fans have pushed us where we are today. Thank you very much.”

According to the club president, the money will be put to good use to support the club’s activities as planned in their 2023/2024 budget.

Kasozi revealed that part of the money will be used in construction of a perimeter wall at their stadium at Butema in Hoima district which commences next week.

Kitara have continued to impose themselves as one of the best teams in the league this season – they’re leading the table with 44 points, followed by BUL (40), NEC (37), SC Villa (36) and Vipers (35).

Next on Kitara’s menu is a battle with fellow UPL newcomers on Thursday April, 4 2024 at MTN-Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
