Bobi Wine’s Documentary Misses Out On Oscars Awards As Russian documentary ‘Days in Mariupol’ Win

Russian documentary ‘Days in Mariupol’ won the best documentary feature film category at the 96th annual Academy Awards beat Uganda’s Bobi Wine’s documentary ‘ Bobi Wine: The People’s President”, Tunisian documentary ‘Four Daughters’ among others.

The Russian documentary beat competition from several documentaries across the global to win the best documentary feature film award at the 96th annual Academy Awards in United States at Dolby Theater.

10th March 2024 will, however forever be a date to remember for Uganda film lovers as the day Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine ,was immortalized.

Bobi Wine: The People’s President was up for one Academy Award in the category of Best Documentary Film was directed by Moses Bwayo, Christopher Sharp and John Battsek , the film that follows the life of artist turned Politician Robert Kyagulanyi as he navigates a music career while taking on political role as face of Uganda’s Opposition.
