British Columbia welcomed 71 candidates under BC PNP Tech draw

British Columbia has issued approximately 12,000 invitations to file for provincial nomination so far in 2021. In addition, British Columbia immigration has given 71 invites to skilled professionals, and overseas graduates in a new BC PNP Tech draw.

Invitations were sent on December 14th through four British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program streams. The invites were distributed by the BC PNP Tech, a part of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP).

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is an economic immigration method utilized by the government of British Columbia to attract experienced, in-demand foreign professionals. The program provides a pathway to Canada PR for persons who desire to live and work in British Columbia.

Candidates selected through BC’s Tech draws must fulfil the requirements of one of British Columbia’s Express Entry BC or Skills immigration categories overseen by the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

Candidates who earned invites in this draw came from the Skilled Worker (SI), International Graduate (SI), Skilled Worker (EEBC), International Graduate (EEBC) subcategories and should have a provincial score of at least 80. Candidates invited to apply for the nomination now have 30 calendar days to do so.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot has been rebranded as BC PNP Tech and is now a permanent immigration stream. It was initially introduced in 2017. It is a list of 29 target occupations with flexible time requirements (as given below).

Beginning in May 2017, BC PNP draws aimed just at technology personnel. The province has a thriving technology sector, with some of the world’s most well-known technology companies headquartered in Canada’s westernmost province.

Invitations are distributed weekly through the province’s tech program to the highest-scoring applicants who meet the qualifying requirements.

Candidates who are requested to submit an application for a provincial nomination must do so within the stipulated time frame. The majority of technology applications will thereafter be processed within two to three months.

If approved, candidates will get a nomination confirmation letter from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which may be used to apply for permanent residence through the Provincial Nominee Program Class.
PNP applicants obtain 600 points for their Comprehensive Ranking System score, and so have a very good chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence via Express Entry.
