A rich man from Bugisu is sad and blue after his wife and mother of his children woke up and told him she was done with him.
Saying she wasn’t prepared to continue being with a man who is so local and possessive at the same time, the politically very powerful and well connected woman walked the talk by dramatically kicking him out of their palatial home in Kampala’s Makindye Division.
This all happened one morning at the beginning of this year. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the very beautiful woman, for whom this was a second marriage, has already moved on with a lanky celebrity-like MP from one of the Bukedi districts. The young energetic male MP belongs to NRM, just like her.
The dumped husband is a Muslim, showy and abit elderly from Elgon zone. In Kampala, the very quarrelsome tycoon runs several businesses and one of his sons was a Member of Parliament until a few years ago. He met his now estranged wife when she was still a Member of Parliament on the NRM ticket, during the 2011-2016 term.
The super-rich wife, who these days has a lot of elite escorts, stayed with the children after kicking the polygamous hubby out of their Makindye Division home. He has been restless since that time. His efforts have included getting some officials in the Bamasaaba cultural institution to go and plead with the estranged wife’s parents to prevail on her to get back to him. This hasn’t yielded thus far.
The man has increasingly been becoming distraught and at the beginning of this month, he personally drove to one of Uganda’s border districts where he met with his estranged wife’s dad. He wailed and begged the old man to help him summon his daughter and order her to go back to him.
“But my son the last time you took her more than 10 years ago, I was not recognized. Its only her mum who benefited. She is the one you recognized and pampered. Do you know that I was even never given any dowry for my daughter?”
The desperate rich man from Elgon owned up and expressed readiness to make good on condition that the old man forces his daughter to go back to him. The old man, whose welfare the estranged wife had disregarded all these years, demanded for Shs100m since money has never been a problem for the rich man from Masaabaland. The Shs100m was instantly given and was delivered by a retired Mugisu man who used to work at one of the agencies under Finance Ministry in Kampala.
After pocketing the Shs100m, the old man rang his estranged son-in-law. Upon arrival, the extortionist old man deceptively told the Mugisu rich man that the daughter was willing to go back to him on condition that a big function, to serve as an introduction ceremony, is organized and held at his home in the border district.
“But my daughter is now a big person…see how dilapidated my home is. It’s in bad shape because when she got married to you and got exposed to a lot of money, she built for her mum and left me languishing in destitution. Put up a very big house for me so that we have were to hold that introduction ceremony from as you prepare to bring my befitting dowry.”
The truth is that the old man never spoke to the daughter because they don’t see eye to eye anymore. So, according to knowledgeable family sources, his claim to have talked to her is mere fabrication. “The old man is shrewd and just wants to live in a nice house like the Honorable’s mum is living in,” says a knowledgeable source.
All that skepticism notwithstanding, the rich man from Elgon commenced on the housing project at the old man’s home. A budget of Shs500m has been put aside and the old man’s village mansion is already being constructed.
The builders are working day and night and the rich man from Elgon wants the house completed before July so that the old man moves in to be able to hold the promised fresh introduction ceremony there before President Museveni’s new Cabinet gets sworn in. The estranged wife has vowed never to go back to the wealthy Mugisu man regardless of his efforts to manipulate her own dad.
