Bushenyi headteacher arrested for issuing wrong PLE results to candidates

Security is holding a Headteacher of Bubaare Primary School in Bushenyi for allegedly issuing wrong PLE results to candidates after UNEB withheld their results.

On January 25, the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) released results 736,931 candidates who sat for the 2023 PLE exams.

The board also announced it had withheld exams of undisclosed number of candidates and examination centres over alleged malpractices. Bubaare Primary School in Bushenyi was among the many schools which was affected. UNEB withheld results for 114 candidates of this school.

Speaking at the release of the results, Dan Odongo, the board Executive Director said they were going to investigate the matter and give a fair hearing to schools and candidates whose results were withheld.

Appearing before the UNEB security committee for a hearing today, the UNEB security committee established that the headteacher issued testimonials with wrong results to enable learners get admission in Senior One.

“This is a Headteacher ot Bubaale Primary School in Bushenyi. Results of 114 candidates were withheld. They appeared today for a hearing. It was established by the UNEB Security Committee that she actually issued wrong results in form of testimonials,” UNEB said. ” The results were withheld, but learners have been issued wrong results and are now in s1 with wrong result.”

By press time, the suspect was in police custody pending court.
