Police have hailed as generally peaceful, the just concluded Easter holidays around the country.
Giving an account of the security in the country, Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said police didn’t register any major incidents or threats during the festive season
“Generally, it was a peaceful Easter period .We applaud all security personnel who promoted peace and security during this period .The reports we have indicate the festivities were peaceful as millions of believers gathered to celebrate resurrection of Jesus Christ,” Enanga said.
He explained that working with police, religious leaders worked closely with security to ensure safety of church goers , adding that the same happened with music promoters and event organisers who ensured concerts were policed well.
Nevertheless, the police spokesperson said 62 major incidents were reported to police compared to 44 for last year.
Among these incidents 46 lives were lost in general, including those murdered by mob, cases of aggravated robbery and murder as a result of domestic violence among others.
He noted that during the period, police operations led to the arrest of 52 suspects in various parts of the country.
