Bukoto Central Member of Parliament (MP) Richard Ssebamala has declared war on the Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LoP) Joel Ssenyonyi and National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy president in charge of Buganda Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi over frequent attacks on the person and family of President Museveni and his son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.Ssebamala who is also a member of the Democratic Party (DP) said that it was bad for Kivumbi who had just been released from prison to public insult Gen Muhoozi who is the Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) of the country.“I cannot condemn whatever happened to Muwanga Kivumbi, why is he insulting leaders? I don’t support people insulting our fellow leaders,” Ssebamala said.He further explained that Gen Muhoozi is also a human being who gets annoyed when publicly humiliated noting that he was not surprised when he announced through his X handle that he no longer wanted Ssenyonyi in the Office of the Leader of Opposition in parliament.Kivumbi was arrested by armed men dressed in civilian clothes on his way back to Kampala hours after being released on bail by the Crimes War Division of the High Court on charges related to murder and terrorismHis arrest is alleged to have resulted from his political statements threatening a political war against president Museveni and his family and organizing his party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s comeback.Currently, security agencies and government have not yet made any statement on Kivumbi’s arrest.Ssebamala further insists that for him, he is in support of the ongoing parliament administration amendment bill which is aimed at giving all opposition and independent legislators permission to participate in choosing the LoP instead of leaving the largest opposition party in the country to choose.He explained that the Office of the Leader of Opposition in Parliament receives a lot of money but Ssenyonyi never accounts for it.
