Following the end of the first round of the 2023/24 season, Arua Hill SC (UPL) and Ndejje University FC (Big League) were left puzzled and helpless after learning that their teams would not be participating in the second round of their respective leagues.

Arua Hill was demoted to the second division from the top division, while Big League side Ndejje University was suddenly dissolved.

Apparently, FUFA demoted Arua Hill on 6th February 2024 after the club failed to fulfill the club licensing requirements.

On 15th January, Ndejje University, in a surprising move cited financial constraints in the ultimate decision to dissolve their football club that was competing in the Big League.

At the time, Arua Hill were sitting bottom of the 16-team UPL table with just six points 15 games, while Ndejje University were 14th of the 15 Big League teams, languishing in the red zone.

The FUFA Executive Committee has now come up with a special arrangement that will see the affected players (of Arua Hill and Ndejje University) be allowed to join any other team of their choice outside the transfer window.

FUFA has therefore decided that all the players of Ndejje University are free agents with immediate effect. They are therefore free to join a club of their choice.

“All players of Arua Hill SC out of contract are free to join a club of their choice.”

“All players of Arua Hill SC whose contracts have been mutually terminated are free to join a club of their choice.”

Additionally, players of Arua Hill still on contract with the club may join a club of their choice on loan for the rest of the season 2023/24.

“In all of the above cases, the acquiring (destination) club must have the vacancies and space to recruit the players in conformity with the relevant regulations,” FUFA further guided.

FUFA has set the period from Ist -15th March 2024, for any such transfer of players from Ndejje University FC and Arua Hill SC to clubs of their choices to be effected.
