*Wakiso Giants 1-0 NEC
*Kitara 0-0 BUL
Wakiso Giants clinched a crucial 1-0 victory over NEC in a thrilling league encounter at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
The decisive moment came in the 80th minute when Kenneth Kimera found the back of the net, sealing the fate of the match and earning his team a valuable three points.
This victory marks Wakiso Giants’ second consecutive win, following their impressive 3-2 triumph against Express before the international break.
The Purple Sharks have now gathered four points from their encounters with the Uganda Premier League debutants, solidifying their position in the league table and moving nine points clear of the relegation zone with only eight matches remaining in the season.
Under the leadership of John Luyinda, Wakiso Giants have turned their season around and are showing signs of resurgence at a crucial juncture in the campaign.
With 26 points from 22 matches, they now sit comfortably in 11th place in the standings, poised to climb further in the coming fixtures.
Meanwhile, NEC’s quest to close the gap on league leaders Kitara suffered a setback on the day the leaders were held to a goalless draw by second-placed BUL.
This result leaves NEC trailing Kitara by seven points ahead of their much anticipated match-up.
With SC Villa and Vipers lurking just one and two points behind respectively, NEC finds themselves in a tricky position.
Up next for Wakiso Giants is an away trip to BUL FC on 6th April at the FUFA Technical Center Njeru while NEC will host Kitara FC on 4th April.
