Vipers will be hoping to take their revenge against Kitara when the two sides face off on Friday in Masindi.

The game comes five days since Vipers’ Uganda Cup title defence was ended by Kitara at the Quarterfinals in Masindi on Sunday.

Vipers, despite taking the lead twice, were pegged back on both occasions before falling in penalty shootouts after extra-time ended 2-2.

It was sweet revenge for Kitara who, in the league first round last year, lost to Vipers 2-1 at Kitende in a game they had their late equaliser wrongly ruled out for offside.

That Assistant Referee Juma Osire was later banned by FUFA for six months.

Friday’s game has been overshadowed by Vipers petition to FUFA, claiming poor officiating from Referee Ali Sabila.

The Venoms also complained about lack of security at the stadium and poor treatment from that Sunday game, threatening not to honour Friday’s fixture.

In a calculating video, some rowdy Kitara fans were seen holding pangas during Sunday’s clash, and Kitara has responded by revealing tight security measures that are in place to ensure safety this Friday.

The match is a huge one in terms of both teams’ title aspirations, and more for Vipers who wants to defend their league title.

And the league is their only chance of winning silverware this season.

Vipers sit third with 42 points, two below Kitara at the top who have played a game more.

If Kitara fails to beat Vipers, they may relinquish their top spot to BUL who host Express in Njeru on Saturday while fourth placed Villa who host Bright Stars on Sunday, sit four points adrift of Kitara and have played a game less on the leaders.
