KIU Titans roared back into form with an impressive 78-51 victory over the JT Jaguars in a National Basketball League showdown at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Wednesday.
The Titans, determined to shake off their recent setback, came into the game fresh off a surprising 61-67 loss against the KCCA Panthers.
However, they quickly turned the tide in their favor, dominating the Jaguars after a shaky start that saw the latter take a 19-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Despite a valiant effort from the Jaguars, the Titans capitalized on their opponents’ 28 turnovers, maintaining control of the game with only 14 turnovers of their own.
The standout performer for the Titans was Edgar Munaba, whose stellar performance earned him a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Collins Kasujja and Denis Tom Omara added 14 and 13 points respectively. Brian Opiyo also made an impact, scoring 10 points to reach double digits off the bench.
On the Jaguars’ side, Ian Lubwama led the scoring with 13 points, followed closely by Benjamin Shango and Mark Were, who each contributed 10 points. Despite their efforts, the Jaguars ended the first round of the league on a disappointing note.
Looking ahead, the KIU Titans are set to take on Dmark Power on Friday, followed by a matchup against Ndejje Angels on Sunday to close out the first round.
