Okidi Patrick  | Lira, (UG): In a ruling delivered on Thursday, February 29, 2024, evening, the Assistant Registrar of Lira High Court, Justice Ssalaamu Godfrey Ngobi, declared that many people in Lango celebrated the court decree, believing that peace would return to the region.

The application was dismissed with costs, and the respondent was granted the order to proceed with the election of the New Won Nyaci on Friday, March 1, 2024, as previously scheduled.

“In an application of this nature, this court is being called upon to maintain the status quo and not to dismiss the impugned electoral commission of the 1st applicant,” reads the court ruling.

However, in response to the ruling, Mr. Olobo Anthony Odur (son of Won Nyaci Yosam Odur Ebii) told our reporter that they would not appeal the ruling made by the Lira High Court.
