Shock rippled through the community in Mbale city this morning as the body of a 45-year-old man, Kisa Masolo, was discovered discarded in River Namatala. Masolo hailed from Nakitiku village, Bunabuka parish, Bubeza Sub County in Sironko district.

The search for Masolo was spearheaded by Wilson Maberi, the LC III chairperson of Bubeza Sub County, alongside concerned locals from Sironko. Masolo had been reported missing since last Friday, prompting widespread concern among residents, especially given his ties to the community.

Noora Nandege, Masolo’s mother said that the deceased and his wife, identified only as Jan, separated last month. Following their separation, each had been residing independently in Mbale town. Nandege mentioned that Jan had entered into a new relationship, although she refrained from providing further details.

Masolo had been making periodic visits to the rental house in Namatala where Jan stayed, with hopes of reconciling with his estranged wife. However, Nandege expressed her son’s concerns, revealing that Masolo had confided in her about receiving threats on his life from Jan’s new partner.

As of now, the postmortem process is underway at Mbale City Mortuary, conducted by the police, before the body is released to relatives for burial. Efforts to obtain a comment from the police proved futile, as Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson did not respond to repeated calls.
