Preview: Kitara Seek To Tighten Grip Atop

Kitara aims to further solidify their position at the top of the Uganda Premier League table as they travel to face Maroons on Friday at Prisons ground in Luzira.

Currently leading with 39 points, Kitara sits just one point ahead of BUL, who have a game in hand. Vipers follow closely in third place with 32 points but have two games less played than Kitara.

Brian Ssenyondo’s team enters this match with high morale after their 2-0 victory over SC Villa in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, advancing them to the quarterfinals and marking their fourth consecutive clean sheet.

Facing an off-form Maroons side, who haven’t won in their last four matches and failed to score in their last three, Kitara sees an opportunity to extend their lead.

Maroons currently occupy the sixth position on the table with 30 points, trailing Kitara by nine points.

Moreover, Kitara seeks redemption for their 1-0 defeat to Maroons in the first round fixture, where Fred Amaku’s goal secured the win, despite Denis Omedi’s missed penalty.
