Victor Twinomugisha, serving as both the chairman for Kashari South Youth Emyooga Sacco and the youth councilor for Rubaya Sub County, found himself in legal turmoil as he was apprehended by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit. The arrest was followed by his appearance before Mbarara Grade One Magistrate, Alex Baguma, to address the allegations involving the mismanagement of 10 million shillings from the Kashari South Youth Emyooga Sacco.

During the court proceedings, Twinomugisha, standing in the dock, maintained his innocence in connection with the missing funds. Hailing from Bwizibwera upper cell, Bwizibwera-Rutooma town council in Mbarara district, he adamantly stated, “I didn’t steal but I used the money.” Despite his denial, a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf. The prosecution informed the court that investigations into the matter were still ongoing, suggesting a complex legal process ahead.

Magistrate Alex Baguma, presiding over the case, made the decision to remand Twinomugisha to Kyamugorani prisons until March 20. Baguma clarified the legal procedure to Twinomugisha, affirming his right to apply for bail during his time in custody. This marked a significant development in the legal proceedings, with the accused awaiting further hearings and potential decisions regarding bail.

The involvement of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in the greater Ankore region highlighted a broader effort to address concerns surrounding the misuse of Emyooga Sacco funds by local leaders. This case served as a focal point in ongoing investigations, shedding light on the challenges of ensuring transparent and accountable management of community funds.
