Nam Blazers collected their fifth straight win, overcoming KCCA Panthers 91-83 on Wednesday in the National Basketball League at YMCA court in Wandegeya.
The Blazers entered the game with previous victories against Livingstone, Power, JT Jaguars, and Ndejje Angels.
They surged ahead with a 25-9 lead in the first quarter and had a 24-point advantage at one point. However, a strong second half from KCCA Panthers put the Blazers under pressure.
KCCA staged a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to just one point halfway through the last quarter.
The Blazers managed to hold on, aided by a 7-0 run down the stretch that helped them withstand KCCA’s comeback attempt.
Three Blazers achieved double-doubles: Joseph Chuma led with 22 points and 15 rebounds, Michael Makiadi contributed 10 points and 14 rebounds, and Daniel Gaaki had 11 points and 10 assists.
Also, Wadaya Blair and Innocent Ochera added 17 and 16 points, respectively.
For KCCA, Davis Assiimwe weighed in with a game high 25 points, while Gaius Mahamba added 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in a losing effort.
Despite committing 29 turnovers, the Blazers compensated with 64 rebounds, compared to KCCA’s 46.
The Blazers, who have won 13 out of 16 games this season, completed a double over KCCA, having previously defeated them 84-64 on February 3rd.
This loss marks the sixth defeat for Raymond Muhumuza’s KCCA, who have won nine games this season.
