Neuro-oncology

Anadolu Health Center Neurosurgery department; Service is provided to all types of neuro-oncology patients. Especially the diagnosis and surgical treatment of benign and malignant brain tumors, spinal cord tumors, and tumors affecting peripheral nerves are within the scope of neurosurgical oncology (brain and nerve surgery oncology). It is known that 20-25% of cancer patients have brain or spine metastases. The center has the equipment, technology and experience to enable patients with brain and spine tumors to receive high-level healthcare services. Treatment of brain and spine tumors requires a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach. Anadolu Health Center treats these patients with the following interdepartmental collaboration:

What is a Neuro-oncology Tumor Board? How does it work?

What diseases are treated in our department?

  • brain tumors
  • spinal tumors
  • spinal tumors
  • spinal cord tumors

Benign brain tumors include pituitary adenoma, acoustic neuroma, and meningiomas. The most common types of surgical intervention are malignant brain tumors, gliomas or metastatic lesions (spread from the area where they are located to another body part). Most spinal tumors are metastatic tumors.

Spinal metastases usually cause severe pain and require treatment. Peripheral nerve and spinal cord tumors are important because they cause pain and weakness in the patient due to their effects on the nerves.

Technologies used for the treatment of neuro-oncology diseases:

  • Neuro-navigation

  • Cyberknife Radiosurgery

  • Digital Angiography

  • Advanced MRI and CT

  • Stereotactic Frameless Biopsy

  • Video-EEG Monitoring

  • Brain Mapping

In deep-seated brain tumors, neuronavigation technology is used to minimize normal brain tissue damage. These technologies allow the surgeon to reach small, deep-seated tumors through a small incision. In these cases, postoperative patient comfort is higher than in other cases. Additionally, in addition to navigation-assisted biopsies to help diagnose difficult lesions, the Cyberknife® Radiosurgery method is also used in the treatment of some tumors. In addition, video-EEG monitoring and brain mapping techniques are used as helpful methods in determining the location of tumors.
