The North Kigezi Diocese Bishop, Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe, has delivered a scathing critique of church leaders, accusing them of deceptive behavior that undermines the message of salvation.
During his pastoral visit to All Saints Parish Nyakariro in Bugangari Archdeaconry, Rukungiri District, Bishop Asiimwe expressed concern over the discrepancy between the outward appearance of church leaders and their true character. He highlighted the prevalence of leaders who, despite their impressive attire and titles within the church hierarchy, are mere pretenders whose sinful actions contradict the message they preach.
Addressing the congregation, Bishop Asiimwe invoked the words of Jesus, warning against the danger of spiritual hypocrisy. He emphasized the importance of genuine faith and urged church leaders to live lives consistent with the teachings of Christ.
Drawing analogies from everyday objects, Bishop Asiimwe illustrated the emptiness of outward appearances devoid of substance. He likened some church leaders to empty containers adorned with labels, symbolizing a superficial display of religious devotion without genuine transformation.

Furthermore, Bishop Asiimwe lamented the dilution of the gospel message in favor of superficial comfort. He cautioned against prioritizing popularity over truth, stressing the need for uncompromising adherence to the principles of salvation.
In response to the prevailing challenges within the church, Bishop Asiimwe called for a renewed focus on authentic salvation. He urged congregants to embrace the true message of redemption, even if it entails discomfort or opposition.
The head of the laity at Nyakariro All Saints Church, Sr Florence Rwabahima, echoed Bishop Asiimwe’s sentiments, acknowledging the growing prevalence of moral decay within the church community. She expressed gratitude for the Bishop’s efforts to revive the emphasis on genuine salvation, emphasizing its critical importance in restoring moral integrity.
During the visit, Bishop Asiimwe confirmed the Anglican Faith for approximately 120 new Christians, urging them to embrace obedience and seek salvation through Jesus Christ. His message resonated with the congregation, underscoring the need for a profound spiritual transformation within the church.
