One-Year-Old Boy Killed in a Ritual Murder, Body Dumped in Church Pit Latrine

The Police in Mukono district are hunting for the suspects behind the ritual murder of a one-year-old boy. Police identified the deceased as Shon Sserunkuuma, a son to Jackeline Namatovu residing at Buyuki village in Katoogo parish in Nama sub-county, Mukono district. 

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango told our reporter that Sserunkuuma disappeared from his mother who was washing on March 26, at around 11:00am.

Namatovu, the deceased’s mother is said to have reported his disappearance at Nama Police Station after looking for him around her home and the village in vain.

 

Onyango said that in the following morning of March 27, a 3-year-old pupil of Katoogo Aim Junior School who had gone for a long call in the pit latrine of Katoogo Pentecostal Church came across a pool of blood and she informed her teacher, Irene Nafula.

It is alleged that Nafula reported what had been seen in the church pit latrine to the local leaders who also reported the matter to police.

“The scene of crime was about 300 meters away from the deceased’s home. Suspected human dry blood stains were observed on the floor of the latrine,” he said.

Councilor Paul Kawombe, who was one of the eyewitnesses, said that the body of the deceased was observed half naked dressed in a blue short trouser and an orange T-shirt.

“The body was found mutilated with the head cut off and stomach cut all body organs removed with intestines hanging out. It was suspected to be a ritual murder,” Onyango said.

Police revealed that they found a coffee stem inside the pit latrine next to the deceased’s body suspected to have been used by the perpetrators of this heinous crime.

Onyango says that a team of Police Fire and Rescue Department opened and retrieved the body from the pit latrine before conveying it to KCCA Mortuary in Mulago for autopsy.

By press time, had not yet recovered the body parts of the boy that include the head and the genitals yet also no suspect linked to the murder had been arrested.

 Nama sub-county chairperson John Bosco Isabirye asked the residents to keep their calm as they give Police time to carry on its investigations.
