“To ensure continuity of this program, our committee has been registered as a foundation with fixed assets that generate income that the Madhvanis have put aside to ensure continuous support of the scheme. Therefore, this is not a trial and error sort of arrangement, “Ssendawula told journalists.

He announced that this year, the Muljibhai Madhvani Foundation has set aside shs750 million to benefit Ugandan students in form of scholarships.

Ssendawula said the scholarship covers fields including agriculture, biology, chemistry, commerce, engineering, food science and technology, information technology, hotel management, pharmacy, nursing, architecture, veterinary medicine, actuarial science, environmental studies and human medicine.

“This scholarship program is not only about providing financial assistance but about investing in the future leaders, innovators and change makers of our world. “We are proud to have an investor like Madhvani group with generosity and patriotism that despite urges to reinvest these huge sums of money into their various businesses, they chose to offer scholarships to Ugandan students to contribute to the development of Uganda by nurturing talented individuals who will become future leaders and professionals in their respective fields.”

He said applications for this year’s scholarship program open on April 1 until April 30.
