Discussions centered on the internal rift within the NUP party in a recent airing on Kabaka’s CBS radio, particularly between factions led by Mathias Mpuuga and Bobi Wine. During the Saturday programming, which included the Parliament Yaffee program and Mambo Bado, significant airtime was allocated to criticisms of Bobi Wine’s leadership by panelists moderated by Oscar Martin Kintu.

The panelists, including Lubega Mukaku, Moses Luutu, Henry Lubowa, and Mohammed Kateregga, were given ample opportunity to express their grievances against Bobi Wine, with little to no pushback from the moderator. Mukaku, in particular, made defamatory statements regarding Bobi Wine’s wealth and alleged financial dealings, accusing him of enriching himself at the expense of the political struggle.

Among Mukaku’s claims were assertions that Bobi Wine received significant financial favors from President Museveni, including a bulletproof vehicle and tax payments amounting to millions. He also alleged that Bobi Wine acquired substantial assets abroad and received funds from sources such as President Kagame and gay groups, which Mukaku suggested were misappropriated.

Kateregga, meanwhile, expressed personal animosity towards Bobi Wine, citing past grievances such as Bobi Wine’s refusal to support him in an election. Kateregga labeled Bobi Wine as dishonest and inept, alleging mistreatment and disrespect towards himself and other party members.

Moses Luutu echoed similar sentiments, dismissing Bobi Wine’s political prowess and likening his leadership to incompetence. Luutu even suggested that disgruntled youths might resort to violence against Bobi Wine due to unfulfilled promises of asylum in Canada.

The discussions on CBS also delved into Bobi Wine’s alleged manipulation of party politics and conflicts with senior NUP members like Mathias Mpuuga. Mpuuga, during his own appearance on CBS, criticized Bobi Wine’s leadership style and expressed concern over the treatment of experienced party members.

Mpuuga asserted that senior NUP leaders played a crucial role in the party’s success, citing their contributions to organizational strength and constituency support. He highlighted the challenges faced by himself and other senior members, including pressure to resign from party positions and attacks on their integrity.

Additionally, Mpuuga addressed allegations surrounding a controversial financial transaction involving a significant sum of money. He called for proper party procedures to address disciplinary matters rather than unilateral actions from Bobi Wine.

The discussions on CBS radio underscored deep divisions within the NUP party and raised questions about Bobi Wine’s suitability for the presidency. Despite attempts to defend Bobi Wine, criticisms from panelists and party members highlighted broader concerns about leadership and internal dynamics within NUP.
