Police authorities have announced a bounty of 10 million shillings for any individual who provides credible information leading to the arrest of a primary suspect implicated in the murder of Daniel Bbosa, a prominent businessman and leader of Buganda’s Ndiga (Sheep) clan. The victim was fatally shot on February 25 while driving home with his wife and maid in Lungujja Parish.

The suspect, identified as Lujja Bbosa Tabula, 38 years old and a resident of Kabango village in Mutubagumu Sub County, Mpigi District, is currently evading law enforcement. Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, issued a warning to those harboring the wanted suspect, emphasizing that anyone caught shielding or aiding Tabula’s escape would face criminal charges.

Investigations suggest that Tabula may have orchestrated the murder of Bbosa, who served as the director of Transa Electrical. Although seven individuals have been apprehended in connection with the crime, including Buganda Court Kisekwa official Milly Naluwenda, Tabula remains at large, prompting authorities to escalate efforts to bring him to justice.

Specific details regarding five of the suspects remain undisclosed pending legal directives from the Director of Public Prosecutions. Despite the ongoing investigation, President Museveni recognized the valor of Abdul Katabazi, a plumber from Kikandwa Zone, Lungujja, who reportedly apprehended the suspected assailants.

In recognition of his bravery, Katabazi was awarded the prestigious Nalubaale Medal during a ceremony at State House Entebbe. President Museveni commended Katabazi’s actions, likening him to a guerrilla fighter and emphasizing the significance of his contribution to Uganda’s political development.

The incident adds to a concerning trend of escalating violence, with the number of murders, particularly those involving firearms, on the rise. In 2023 alone, 4,366 individuals lost their lives to violence, marking a five percent increase from the previous year. Among these fatalities, 330 were attributed to gunshot wounds, highlighting the urgency of addressing the underlying issues contributing to the surge in violence.

As authorities intensify efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and bring them to justice, it is imperative for communities to collaborate with law enforcement agencies and prioritize collective safety and security.

The resolution of such cases is crucial for upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for the victims and their families.
