Power Basketball Club fought back to beat Kampala Rockets with a commanding 72-60 victory in the National Basketball League game on Wednesday at the YMCA court in Wandegeya.

Despite trailing in the first two quarters with scores of 19-16 and 13-12, Power rallied back in the second half, dominating the third quarter with a scoreline of 25-16 to seize control of the game.

Despite facing adversity with Philip Ameny’s injury, Power sealed the deal in the final quarter, clinching it 19-12.

This victory was a testament to Power’s resilience, especially considering they are rotating on a team of just eight players this season.

Samad Imran emerged as a standout player for Power, showcasing an exceptional performance by recording a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds throughout the entirety of the 40-minute game.

Additionally, starters Elvis Mutebi (18), Isaac Afidra (14), Philip Ameny (13), and Elvis Sentongo (12) all contributed significantly, each scoring in double digits.

On the opposing side, Francis Kasinde and Puati Ozias Kikomba of Kampala Rockets put up a fierce fight, each achieving a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds, and 14 points and 19 rebounds respectively. However, their remarkable efforts were not enough to secure a victory against their former team.

Despite being outrebounded 59-53, Power managed to limit their turnovers to 19, a crucial factor in their triumph. Notably, they only garnered three points from their bench players throughout the game.

This defeat marks Kampala Rockets’ seventh loss in eight league games, further extending their season’s woes. Meanwhile, Power celebrates their second victory in four games, having previously triumphed over JKL Dolphins.
