President Museveni Reaffirms Wealth Creation Strategy to Government Leaders

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Friday reaffirmed his wealth creation strategy presenting notable achievements by farmers in Gomba and Sembabule districts to the leaders of Uganda’s three branches of government.

The President’s address emphasized the significant progress made by those who have heeded his advice.

“We, the people of Kisozi, have decided to share our line of thinking, which aligns with the NRM’s vision. Some people were opposing Sarah Nalwanga [project Coordinator], but I told them this project is mine, not hers. Nalwanga now runs a nursery bed for coffee and fruit seedlings to distribute to more people, and we will expand from there,” he stated.

Accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Museveni, the President spoke at a public rally at Kisozi Primary School in Gomba District. He aimed to demonstrate to national leaders that poverty eradication is feasible if they lead by example.

President Museveni highlighted similar success stories throughout the cattle corridor, including districts like Isingiro, Mbarara, Kiruhura, Lyantonde, Sembabule, Gomba, Kyakwanzi, Kiboga, Ngoma, and Masindi. These successes are attributed to the aggressive wealth creation campaigns spearheaded by the NRM student movement.

He emphasized the need for dairy farmers to adopt zero-grazing methods instead of free grazing. “In Uganda, you need three and a half square miles to keep 1,000 cows. Many do not have that much land, so we encourage dairy farming. Since 1989, we’ve promoted dairy farming, and by 1995, it succeeded in Nyabushozi and the cattle corridor,” he explained.

The President recalled his nationwide tour in 2018, where he saw positive results from his wealth creation booklet, outlining four sectors and seven activities for wealth creation. He noted the importance of working closely with local communities.

Reflecting on the 1990s, when he acquired land in Kisozi, Museveni shared his motivation to uplift the democratically poor residents by implementing the 4-acre model, developed from State House recommendations.

He reiterated the NRM’s commitment to eliminating poverty by encouraging Ugandans to engage in modern commercial agriculture. Gomba West Member of Parliament, Hon. Robina Rwakoojo, praised the President for involving all three branches of government in her constituency.

Progressive farmers from nine villages in Sembabule and Gomba districts shared testimonies of their economic success. Farmers like Isirairi Kwefuga, who earns over Shs220 million annually from his 10-acre coffee farm and produces 800 liters of milk daily, attributed their success to the President’s guidance.

In Gomba, David Nasasira from Kyahi sub-county, the leading milk producer with 394,000 liters daily, and Mr. Kabera from Maddu sub-county, who operates several enterprises and a dairy training school employing over 60 youth, also shared their stories.

The rally was attended by Vice President H.E Jessica Alupo, Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Among, Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, NRM First National Vice Chairman Al-hajji Moses Kigongo, and other dignitaries including Ministers, NRM Secretariat officials led by Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, and MPs.
