I&M Bank Uganda stood in solidarity with Ugandans worldwide in celebrating the 69th birthday of His Highness Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, the Kabaka of Buganda. The bank participated as the official sponsor of the annual Kabaka Birthday Run, held earlier today at Lubiri, in Mengo.

The run, a significant event in Uganda’s social calendar, drew an impressive crowd estimated to be over one hundred thousand participants from various parts of the globe. This year’s run took on heightened importance as it rallied support towards the fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic, with the ambitious goal of eliminating the epidemic by 2030.

In addition to a sponsorship package of Shs 200 million towards this year’s run, I&M Bank Uganda demonstrated its commitment by fielding over 150 dedicated staff members to participate alongside the sea of enthusiastic runners.

Sam Ntulume, the Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer at I&M Bank, expressed the bank’s deep sense of honor in actively engaging in such a vital cause. He highlighted the Kabaka Birthday Run as a catalyst for tangible change and community transformation, particularly in the shared mission to eradicate HIV/AIDS in Uganda and beyond.

“As we approach our 50th anniversary of operations in the region this June, initiatives like the Kabaka Birthday Run underscore the significance of our journey,” remarked Ntulume. “They infuse our celebrations with deeper meaning and purpose, reminding us of the profound impact we can make when we unite behind a common cause.”

I&M Bank’s involvement in the Kabaka Birthday Run dates back to 2022, and the bank has consistently supported the event since then. This year’s participation marks the culmination of a momentous three-year sponsorship deal, reflecting the bank’s enduring commitment to community engagement and positive change.

Since its inception in 2013, the Kabaka Birthday Run has evolved into a cornerstone of Uganda’s social calendar, addressing critical health issues such as fistula, sickle cell disease, and HIV/AIDS. As the run continues to grow in stature and influence, it serves as a beacon of hope, uniting communities in a collective endeavor to build a healthier and more prosperous future for all.
